Employment Specialist – Arapahoe County TANF

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

•             Provides case management services to a caseload of TANF participants who possess multiple barriers that may prevent gainful employment.

•             Performs crisis intervention and provides emergency referrals.

•             Develops a career development plan and an Individual Responsibility Contract for each program participant. Updates participant plans and contracts as required.

•             Provides referrals for assessment and appropriate training programs.

•             Assists participants with job readiness and job placement upon successful completion of job training.

•             Maintains file documentation and assures that all pertinent client information is updated on a regular basis. Inputs all required data and participant information into client database correctly and in a timely manner.

•             Compiles all pertinent data and information for the development of monthly, quarterly and annual reports for Goodwill and the County.

•             Builds and maintains quality working relationships with other departments, co-workers and outside customers.

•             Maintains updated and accurate information on available community resources.

•             Communicates openly, honestly, responsively and productively with supervisor, co-workers, outside departments and agencies and participants. Always exercises excellent interpersonal skills and treats everyone with dignity, respect, courtesy and thoughtfulness.

•             Follows all organizational and agency policies and procedures for Goodwill Industries and Arapahoe County.

•             Performs other related job duties as assigned or required by company policies and procedures.

•             Builds and maintains effective quality working relationships with internal and external customers.  Acts with customers in mind and is dedicated to gaining their trust and meeting their expectations. Uses effective written and verbal communication. Uses good interpersonal skills treating everyone with dignity and respect.  Immediately advises supervisor of significant and unexpected problems. Promotes and demonstrates teamwork and cooperation.

•             Completes assignments, projects, reports, and paperwork accurately and timely.

•             Supports the best elements of our corporate culture while making culture change.  Open to and supportive of new ideas and process improvement of systems and procedures.

•             Performs other duties as assigned.

•             Salary: starts at $38,000.

 

 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services related field and 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

 

Bilingual Spanish a plus

 

Ethics and Values:  Ability to adhere to Goodwill’s core values as outlined in Goodwill’s Employee Handbook.

 

Customer Service:  Ability to meet the expectations and requirements of internal and/or external customers.  Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and/or external customers, ie Arapahoe County Dept of Human Services, Tri-County Health Department, CCAP (Colorado Childcare Assistance Program), etc.

 

Confidentiality:  Ability to safeguard and control restricted information.

 

Productive Work Habits:   Ability to plan, prioritize and manage time effectively.  Ability to follow through on commitments.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:  Must possess a current Colorado driver’s license. Ability to drive on company business.  Ability to be insured by organization's insurance carrier.   Ability to pass a criminal background investigation.

 

Reasoning/Decision Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and make good decisions.

 

Verbal Skills:  Ability to speak effectively inside and/or outside the organization in various settings such as one-on-one, small groups, or large groups.

 

Writing Skills:  Ability to write reports and correspondence clearly and succinctly using correct spelling and punctuation.

 

Other Skills and Abilities: General knowledge of and proficiency in operating computer, adding machine, copy machine, fax machine, telephone, other business equipment. 

 

Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
