[emrat:5480] The Legendary Peter Sharp

Peter Sharp moved to Denver from Seattle in about 2002-2003. I remember meeting him on a ride led by Trip Miller on his silver 955 Speed Triple when we rode down to Palmer Lake and Monument and then east to Colorado 83 and north through Franktown. Peter was a long-haul truck driver, a Teamster, mainly driving auto-carriers, I think. He is Canadian but grew up in West Seattle.

His only street bike has been a gorgeous yellow T595 Daytona (see attached photo). He had the frame powder-coated in Seattle and it is a work of art. At the front, it's a magenta color and then it slowly darkens as you move your eyes to the back. Peter is famous as a detailer of bikes, and he always kept his T595 spotless and shining. And he was one of our "fast riders" back in the day, riding with Bullet Bob, Trip Miller and Keith Houghton, who also had a yellow T595.

He rode it to Laguna Seca in 2007 for MotoGP, when a number of us also rode out and converged at a sketchy Motel 6 in Watsonville. I remember one evening when we rode down to Cannery Row in Monterrey, where everyone rode their bikes to see and be seen. And many riders admired Peter's T595.

Memorial Day 2009, Peter and I rode to Salt Lake City where his childhood buddy, Dave Belanger, lives, and we all went to World Superbike at Miller Motorsports Park. Peter retired from driving and bought a cabin up near Fairplay but then went up to Canada several years ago to resume driving trucks.

In 2012, Warfman and I rode out to Salt Lake City and rendezvoused with Peter, who came down from Canada, and Dave Belanger and went to World Superbike.

If Peter has converted the T595 to a naked street-fighter, then I certainly want to see photos! I recall that he started on this project up in Canada so he has been working on it for a couple of years.
