Sara and I went back from Taos one year by taking 64 to 84 to Pagosa Springs, 160 out of Pagosa Springs to South Fork, 149 out of South Fork through Creede and into Gunnison, the 50 to 285 home.
It does make for a much longer route, but if you are looking for “The Leisurely Way Down” it is a scenic one.
It is about a 500 mile / 10 hour route, not including lunch and stops. If you leave at 7AM, you will get in around 6-ish.
Last time out I started the way you did, took 67 to 11 (high park road) to where it connects with 9 to 50 to 69 through Westcliffe and into Walsenburg, 160 to Ft. Garland. 159 to San Louis. Across the border to 522 and through Questa, Arroyo Hondo and into Toas.
Thats about 350-ish and 7 hours ride time.

Hello all,Assuming things align as planned, I will be leading a ride down to Taos on Friday 9/5. I haven't planned out the details yet, but last year, we met in Morrison and rode to Pine Junction, to Woodland Park, Johnson Village to Alamosa, Fort Garland, then south into Taos. I would like to find a different route this year, but there aren't a lot of options. We'll see.I tend to lead on the conservative side, and generally allow for the people in the back to catch up if needed. If you have ever been on a ride with Cpt Bob leading, it would be a similar experience.I will post specifics as we get closer to the date.--
