Martin,
I had a 2003 Sprint ST and Denise had 2004 Sprint RS. Both are currently on CL.
My ST start to develop a oil consumption issue which was common for all 2003 models. Where Denise 2004 never did. From what I know, in 2003 Triumph change to aluminum NiCad cylinder sleeves and didn't get it correct during this year.

Martin,
Since I've owned a couple of those 955 bikes, I'll try to answer your questions. Others might be able to add their thoughts and experiences as it's been a few years since I had one.
My experience is that they tend to run a bit hot in summer traffic and the fan runs quite a bit too. They seem to start using oil when they get over 35 k on the odometer. Not smokey or anything, just the consumption goes up. As far as I know they all we're good motors across their production years.
Differences between the RS and ST versions are not huge. The RS was made from 2001 to 2004, but the 04 had a single sided swingarm where the others were double armed. The handlebars on the RS was more forward and lower than the ST, but neither one had tubular bars.
Maybe Al or Cpt. Bob can add more information as they ran many more miles than I did on 955s, but I did have 3 different Triumphs with that motor and they were good to me.
Happy hunting!

So, since we have a lot of them in the club, I'm looking for info that might be of use to a shopper....Specifically: What is the difference between the ST and RS sprint models? I know one had clip-ons and the other had a round handlebar, but what other differences were there? With regard to both the Sprint and Speed Triple (S3) 955i, were there any known weaknesses, things to watch out for, specific models or years to seek out or avoid? Mileage-wise, other than the usual valve adjustments (I presume at 12k intervals) are there any other maintenance issues to consider? How robust is the EFI on these (as I've never owned an EFI Triumph?)Thanks in advance!Martin
