In the early afternoon, on Colorado 126, just at the north end of Pine, while riding north we encountered a small flash flood with water running across the highway carrying mud, sand, gravel and debris.  I was literally surprised to encounter it.  But we slowly rode through it.

 

From there on north almost to US 285, we came across mud and debris from every side road and anywhere else where the water had flowed onto the road.  I've lived in Colorado since 1972, and it was the worst debris that I have ever seen on a mountain highway in Colorado.

 

We all slowed down and rode carefully across the debris, and no one had any problems.

 

Then, from Pine Junction back to Denver, we endured a heavy rain storm while riding in heavy traffic.  All riders made it home safely, if not somewhat soaked.  In hindsight, it was an Adventurous Father's Day Ride.

 

But it also is reminder of how you can encounter hazards on the paved road, for which taking a dirt bike course might be helpful.

Here are the July and August dates we will have class. All classes are held at the Strasburg range located approximately 15 miles north of Strasburg, CO. The closest intersection is 112^th and Strasburg Rd. and then there are 5 miles of dirt to get to the range.
