Hep C Connection

Position Announcement

 

 

Hep C Connection has two positions available, based on the candidate pool that submits applications.  The first is a part-time, grant-funded position available from the present through June 30, 3013 and the second is the same position which will be transitioning to full-time beginning July 1, 2013.

 

Duties for part-time position through June 30, 2013: 

 

Manage and implement a program funded through the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment in which high risk youth are educated about HIV and hepatitis C through a Street Smart intervention and participants are tested for both viruses.  The position works an average of 23 hours per week (58% FTE).  Activities take place in Boulder, Denver and Colorado Springs and you must have reliable transportation and strong attention to detail.  We would prefer candidates have the following training, but can provide much of it through multiple sources:

 

HIV training, training on HIV and hepatitis C testing, Street Smart intervention, hepatitis B and C virus training

 

Duties for full-time position starting July 1, 2013: 

 

1.       Manage and implement a program funded through the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment in which high risk youth at three facilities in Boulder, Denver and Colorado Springs are educated about HIV and hepatitis C through a Street Smart intervention and participants are tested for both viruses.  See training needs listed above.  You would evaluate the program and make modifications in order to reach the contracted metrics. 

2.       Manage our patient navigator program for persons with hepatitis C virus and link to care.

a.       Recruits participants in patient navigator program

b.      Counsels and assists clients through the process of receiving hepatitis C treatment

c.       Processes payments for medical care or testing and monitors funds

3.       Coordinate hepatitis C and HIV testing in the office:

a.       Tests one day a week for the hepatitis C virus using antibody test kits or rapid testing and HIV using rapid testing; we will provide relevant training for these tests.

b.      Monitors number of test kits, provides appropriate storage of test kits and controls, orders supplies, runs controls

c.       Enters data into log system, compiles and sends reports to state health department, provides report information to Director of Community Outreach

d.      Provides test results and linkage to care, where necessary

e.      Ensures proper sharps disposal and arranges sharps container collection

4.       Marketing for hepatitis B and C classes:

a.       Creates email and mailing lists for potential attendees for classes

b.      Finds venues throughout the state, and coordinates all logistics for up to 6 classes per year

c.       Creates posters, postcards and other marketing materials and distributes

d.      Prints and assembles enduring class materials

e.      Coordinates registration process through Survey Monkey, creates name tags and certificates

5.       Speaker’s Bureau:

a.       Secures Speaker’s Bureau engagements before baby boomer audiences

b.      Recruits speakers for each presentation, ensures they’re properly trained and has the necessary equipment

c.       Enters evaluation results

6.       Other duties as assigned.

 

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required; master’s degree candidate in public health preferred
  • Access to reliable transportation required (mileage reimbursed)
  • Extravert who is able to relate to a younger population
  • Team player who will fulfill the mission of Hep C Connection
  • Experience or knowledge of hepatitis and/or chronic disease management preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, preferred
  • Ability to learn and retain information, follow instruction and make educated decisions
  • Good listening, questioning and organizing skills, attention to detail

 

Either position will offer vacation, holiday and sick leave, pro-rated for the part-time position.  The full-time position will also provide employer-funded health insurance.
