Hi all:
I am now back in Colorado and planning the route for the Rambler Ranch ride June 28th.
Attached are a couple of pictures of the new bike added to the fleet. One loaded for my trip and one from the Rally in front of my tent. I bought a 2009 BMW R 1200 R, 110 HP Boxer twin, shaft drive, 6 speed, in Miami, FL. It had 28,000 miles but I’ve already put on 3100 more by going to Daytona in May, then rode it to the RA Rally at Barber Motorsports in Birmingham where I got to do 3 laps on the 2.5 mile course. Lot’s of fun. Over 1100 bikers at the rally including a 2010 Bonneville T100 rider who ran the course with me. I then went on to Pensacola to see an old friend and then to Little Rock to visit my brother. From Little Rock I did the 1000 miles back to Denver in one day.
The bike has BMW hardbags, Ohlin Shocks, a Remus muffler, KN Air filter, Cee Bailey windscreen, custom leather seat and a custom silver and platinum paint job. A well cared for one owner bike who bought a new air cooled 1200 GS. Sean is correct, my retirement bike and worth every penny. A great rode bike but light and responsive in the twisties too.
While out east, for you Triumph fanatics, I rode my T-100 to the Myrtle Beach Spring Rally, about 100,000 bikers, mostly Harleys but a lot of cool vendors and spectacular weather. Talked to the usual cadre of Harley guys who had no idea Triumph still made bikes and they look like the ones they rode in the 60s! These guys need to get out more.
Hope to see you on the 28th if not before.
