Re: [emrat:5041] Phat Rides / Dyno Centers

I'm using a Triumph TOR map on my Bonneville T100 with deleted AI, air box, and free flowing BC Sleepers. I got a significant increase in HP performance and it showed when I had Erico do a dyno run. ‎If you want true increase in performance install a big bore kit. I don't know what you're trying to achieve for performance. Do you want more torque and power off the start? Do you want top end speed and go fast? You could change your sprockets to achieve that too. If you are getting your expert opinions off the TriumphRAT.Net forum be careful. A number of those guys have really messed up their bikes using Tune ECU.

I was on a 2 day ride this weekend on my 68 T120R which is a 650 cc twin. I had better performance than a lot of bikes with larger displacements running over Berthoud Pass, in the canyons going up Hwy 125 to Rand, and over the Snowy Range in Wyoming. Sometimes it isn't  all about HP and a custom tune to achieve performance...it's about riding your motorcycle to its potential and yours.

Aftermarket pipes, airbox and air injection removed. They told me that just doing a remap using a Triumph tune would be sufficient. The bike has sluggish and there is still quite a bit of popping. Everything I have read online would indicate that for aftermarket pipes, the Triumph supplied tunes are not good-- better to use TuneECU or PowerCommander. But, I'm not an expert at this, just know that the bike doesn't feel quite right.

Did you ask them to put it on the dyno and do a Power Commander tune? Typically they will install a remap tune depending on what you have done to your bike...delete air induction, strip the air box, install free flowing exhausts, unless otherwise directed. Tuning with a Power Commander is a custom tune for high performance. ‎What have you done to your bike regarding options for increased performance to date?

Bob - yes. My only frustration is that I took the bike to Ericos and asked them to tune it correctly. They didn't even offer Dyno Tune as an option. Had I known at the time, I may have gone with it.

My understanding is our EM/RAT Club sponsor Erico Motorsports has a dyno, well I know they do, and techs who can tune with‎ a Power Commander. I think it might be more appropriate to be referring dyno tunes to Erico and not elsewhere. Just my opinion for whatever that's worth.

Thanks Brad. I did have my bike "tuned" by Ericos, but I have a feeling that may have just installed one of the Triumph tunes and the bike isn't optimal. I'm not familiar with Imperial, but I already reached out to TIm to see if he has any experience working with cruisers.

Chris,

I've never heard of Phat Rides, but I can't say enough good things about Tres at Imperial Sportbikes (http://www.imperialsportbikes.com/service.html).  He was the only person I could find in Denver who knew his way around my carbs and spent the time to get them just right.  He's also certified by Power Commander if your bike is fuel-injected.

I've taken my bike to him a couple of times now and it's always ready exactly when he says it's going to be.  He's also very good about calling you if something unexpected comes up.

Anyone done a DynoTune with Phat Rides (http://www.phatridescc.com/) or for that matter, any other Dyno Center in CO?
