I tried this once a few years ago, but realized around noon that my rear tire tread was almost gone, so I rode home from Carbondale without accomplishing my mission.

 

Basically, I want to put on as many miles and bag as many mountain passes as possible in the 15 hours of daylight, returning home before dark (within 1/2 hour of sunset). The ride will be fast-paced, with minimal stops of limited duration for bike fuel and body fuel. Weather looks cooperative for Saturday. Sounds fun, eh?
