Immigrant integration is a dynamic, two-way process in which newcomers and the receiving society work together to build secure, vibrant, and cohesive communities. As an intentional effort, integration engages and transforms all community members, reaping shared benefits and creating a new whole that is greater than the sum of its parts (Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees).

Dear colleagues,
I hope you are enjoying the lovely spring weather. This is just a gentle reminder that the trauma-sensitive yoga/psychotherapy group and the sexual assault survivor support (SASS) group are due to start in just few weeks! Your support of these groups and survivors has been amazing so far! Our group members continue to give us great feedback about their experiences. If you've been thinking of sharing this information with your clients and colleagues and just haven't been able to do it yet, now is the time! Please consider sending this out to listservs you run/are on as well:)

In case you want a refresher on what these two groups are about below is some information. The flyers for both these groups are also attached.

The trauma-sensitive yoga and psychotherapy group ( www.essentialdialogues.com/TraumaYoga.en.html) is for women-identified survivors of any type of  trauma (physical, sexual, emotional, medical, pregnancy/birth, traumatic  loss, etc). Along with thoughtful, intentional, trauma-informed yoga, we will have a group psychotherapy component in order to build trust and a sense of community within the group.  Among other goals this group will help clients learn to:
  • Calm their sympathetic nervous systems
  • Contain overwhelm, anxiety, depression
  • Cultivate presence and mindfulness
  • Connect with their bodies
  • Connect with others
  • Gain support and validation in their healing journey
The Sexual Assault Survivors Support (S.A.S.S.) group ( www.essentialdialogues.com/SexualAssaultSupportGroup.en.html is intended for  women-identified survivors of adult sexual assault.

This group will run for 16 weeks and follow a closed group format. The group will be a combination of  psychoeducation and process, allowing participants to learn:

  • The impact of sexual trauma on the body and the brain
  • How their sexual assault has influenced their lives in the past and the present
  • What they can do to truly thrive in their lives
  • To connect with their physical selves
  • To connect with others and gain support on their unique healing paths

Pre-group interviews continue to be scheduled at this time. Please feel free to call  720-295-8067 or email  drmerchant@essentialdialogues.com with any questions or referrals. It will be wonderful to hear from you and/or your clients! Thank you so much.

Warmly,
