Re: [emrat:11424] Re: Brit-Bike Collection up for Auction

Well the Prince of Darkness earned the title with good reason but remember these old Brit cars and bikes were built to run at sea level at 50 degrees Fahrenheit and 90% humidity.  We are trying to run the hell out of them at 6000 to 9000 feet and 90 degrees Fahrenheit with 20% humidity.

The real problem with old Brit bikes and cars were the Lucas electric components. They smell rain and they quit working. Given the weather in England I think it was a conspiracy to get  everyone into the nearest pub!

I had heard that he rubber bumpers were installed as a safety item, which explains why they weren't concerned about the aesthetics so much. Apparently the owners were complaining about banging their knees into the steel bumpers whilst pushing their cars during their regularly unscheduled breakdowns.

All,
I apologize for the delay. I have planned out a route to La Veta, CO, a quaint little town in the shadow of the Spanish Peaks. I found the La Veta Inn. I went down and scoped out the place last weekend; they have plenty of space for us and it is a nice cozy place to hang out.
For dinner the innkeeper suggested the Dog Bar & Grill slightly down the road in Cuchara, which does indeed look like our kind of place. The only downside it that it's in the next town over and will require about a twenty minute ride.
For breakfast Sunday morning, the inn has bagels and coffee, etc. The town has a restaurant and coffee shop nearby, as well.

Address: 103 W Ryus Ave, La Veta, CO 81055

When calling for a reservation mention the Denver Triumph Club so they add you to the group.

Kickstands up Saturday 6/1 at 9:00am
We will start out in Morrison at the Philips 66.
From there we head to Deckers via 285, heading through Woodland Park and on to Cripple Creek to meet up with highway 9 down to 50.
The plan is to stop for lunch in Canon City before heading down to Westcliffe via highway 69, continuing on to Walsenburg to fill up on gas before heading down to La Vita.

Attached is a pdf of the route, as well as a link to the REVER ride and the GPX file. I tried to make sure there is gas stops even for the classic sized tanks of some of us.

Please let me know if you plan on attending so I can get a good idea on how many people to plan for. I look forward to riding with everyone!

Re: [emrat:11408] Spring Overnight Sat 6/1 - Sun 6/2

Tavis, I'm not sure I can make there in time for lunch, when do you think you might be there? It is about 3 1/2 hours from Montrose.

If we can't make lunch work, I thought that we might be able to meet up in Westcliff and ride to La Veta together.

Let me know what times you think that you'll be in those places and I'll figure out what works best for us all. Looking forward to seeing you all.

Well after deciding that the weather might cooperate after all, I've booked my room for the night. The owner told me that they're starting to get bookings for that night so if anyone is interested in going it might be a good idea to call them up. I'm looking forward to seeing you guys. Maybe we can meet up in Westcliff?

Bob, Thiis ride is planned on being all on pavement. As much fun as a dirt run would be I think we can plan a different ride for that one.
