Re: [emrat:13423] Installing a TomTom Battery Cable

Thanks Bob. The 2CS option might be a safer bet if I plan to do the Powerlet socket later.

The site references a canBUS protective diode option. Should I get that op tool added?

Looking to install a TomTom Battery Cable on my new Speedmaster. Simple black / red wiring, but I don't want to connect it direct to battery. I know there are a multitude of ways of wiring this up, some better than others (eg some recommend wiring it to the horn or low beam). Not sure how many other accessories I might need to install, other than maybe a Powerlet socket, so I don't think I need something that fancy like some of the units that Eastern Beaver sells.

What do you all recommend as the best (and hopefully simple) way to get this installed without voiding my warranty? What parts of any would I need.Any and and all instructions would be helpful.

I do have a neighbor who works on bikes so he may be able to help. If not, I also wanted to see if anyone would be open to help with the install? I can bike down / up wherever you may be. I do have some other parts I still need to install - like new handlebars - but those aren't in yet. Hoping not to have to pay someone to do these basic mods (which I have no experience with).

Thanks in advance. And for those on the Ride tomorrow, so I am not able to join. I have a previous engagement with my family. But I do hope to introduce my new bike soon.

I'm a big believer in Eastern Beaver too and easy to install and the 3 option system gives flexibility for later add one like lights and heat gear.

[emrat:13411] Chuck Ferarri Ride this Sunday 5/1

I had mentioned (I think at last month's meeting) that the Chuck Ferrari ride would be this Sunday, 5/1 but I neglected to post it up, so apologies for that.

Here are the details:

First off, sorry for the short notice but the 9th Annual Chuck Ferrari Memorial ride is ON for Sunday May 1st, 2022. We will meet at Launch Espresso at 9:00 AM and be kickstands up at 9:30.

This is located just off of Exit 259 on I-70 (The Morrison exit.)  You'll see the big shopping complex with the gas station and other businesses, just South of Avalanche Harley Davidson.  There is a gas station there and Launch Espresso itself has food as well as coffee.

Plan on a long-ish ride to Canon City via Deckers, Woodland Park, Twin Rocks and High Park Roads and we'll gather at the entrance to Skyline Drive for a photo.  This is an epic ride and it looks like it will be perfect (though as always, prepare for rain this time of year.) Once we ride Skyline, we'll grab lunch and then folks will be on their own to get back.

For those who might wish to join us from Colorado Springs, we should be in Woodland Park around 11:00 and I plan on stopping at the gas station at 67 and 24 (the one we almost always stop at in Woodland Park.)

As usual, this will be a fund raiser so if you feel like it, you can donate in Chuck's name to the HUMANE SOCIETY OF THE SOUTH PLATTE (notice the name change from previous years.) If you want to bring a check you can do so and I will also accept cash donations and take them to the Humane Society next week.
Hope to see you all here. To those newer members of the group, sadly you weren't able to know Chuck but he was an amazing guy and we ride every year in his memory.

Email me at martinjmpr@yahoo.com if you have questions.  Hope to see you all there!

Just a reminder that we will have the monthly RAT meeting this Saturday at Foothills Motorcycles.  Tentatively I have no presentation planned but we can discuss the upcoming schedule.

I will touch bases with Vicki regarding the meeting to see if they will be providing donuts for us again.
