Dear Community Leaders & Stakeholders,
The next steps of coordination and communication are important to all of the stakeholders of the community efforts in and around Triangle Parks, 24th and Sonny Lawson. We continue to hold meetings with the goal of maintaining shared understanding of where the conversation and project is in the process.
We are looking forward to expanding the communication and participation outreach for the upcoming meetings related to Eddie Maestes, Little Boxcar, 24th and Sonny Lawson Park. The next Long Term Vision Working Group meeting will take place at Redline this Monday, February 4th at 11AM. This meeting will be an opportunity to share the status of the scope and plans of the overall efforts, assist in further dialogue about the community concerns and commitments, and will provide the basis the planning and coordinating working group will utilize to further refine the integrated plan.
The goal for the overall project is to continue to refine the scope, commitments for management and programming by participating stakeholders, organize a proposed schedule for infrastructure, maintenance, programming and management. We need as many leaders to commit to participating in the project to assure success of the most holistic and integrated plan. There are many specific areas that can fit a broad range of skills. If you are able to suggest individuals who have a particular interest and commitment to the areas of police/security, fitness programming, outreach, events, maintenance/gardening, human service, etc. we would love to find fits for their interest and involvement.
After the February 4th meeting and anticipated questions/feedback, the CCD planning and coordinating team will update scope/plans as necessary for refinement to advance to a broader public meeting opportunity. We will be interested in giving as much notice as possible to the community.
Please let us know if you have any thoughts, questions or concerns as we move forward. Please feel free to distribute any information we share and encourage others to participate!
Lastly, we're excited to announce our monthly "First Fridays Tactical Urbanism" event! While these events are more impromptu, or loosely planned, the idea is to connect a group of participants once a month who want to take an hour to effect the urban environment in a positive way. We're kicking things off TODAY with a photo project and some graffiti removal! We realize this is last minute. If you cannot make it, no worries, this will happen every month, and each month will be different, so stay tuned! See attached for all details!
Lastly, we've recently created a one-page overview of the District and our efforts and capacity. Please see atached!
Sincerely,
Community Coordinating District No. 1 Team
