Yes, exactly. If all they look at is "reported problems" then how do they distinguish between a loose mirror screw and a seized engine?
Furthermore, how do they account for some failures being related to improper use and/or maintenance?
Finally, is a motorcycle that spends 95% of its time in a garage, has 4,000 miles on it in 4 years and gets ridden only on sunny days between June and August really comparable to a motorcycle of the same year that is ridden 20,000 miles per year in all sorts of weather and road conditions?
Like tea leaves or modern art you can read whatever you want to into a CR review.

The problem with all of these so called "studies" is that none of them define "failure." Is a "failure" any incident reported, regardless of how minor? Or do they mean "failure" as in its being towed to the shop?
