This new 1-day workshop is for those who work with adults in healthcare or a community wellness setting. Motivational Interviewing is a best-practice approach that enhances internal motivation to change.

Motivational Interviewing is effective in enhancing people's readiness, willingness and ability to change. Workshop participants will be introduced to skills used in successful Motivational Interviewing:

• Ask effective open-ended questions
  
• Provide empathy, including normalizing and affirmations
  
• Support intrinsic motivation with reflections
  
• Use summary statements to enhance client success
