Yes boots don't need to be racing boots. The helmet I believe does not matter from what I understood. Modular was ok it just needs to be full face. You may want to check with Justin or John at Erico to be sure. The High Plains website may also mention helmet though. Haven't looked recently. Your leathers will need all the protection needed that the race suits offer, like back protectors knee sliders etc from what I was told. So make shift leathers may not cut it. And yes, it must be leather no textiles.
