I believe so, Wayne.  I saw that on a cable TV reality car show when a VIN search revealed that a car was stolen.  You also see such stories in the national news media from time to time.

PS:  I understand salvage titles have severely diminished resale value but other than that I'm wondering whether people have had problems getting a title transferred, insurance (liability only), etc.
