Ross, I can highly recommend the Triumph Thunderbird. I have done long distance (Denver to Louisiana and back in 5 days) on mine and never got tired. I do have the upgraded long haul seat from Triumph on mine. They come as stripped down or loaded out as a touring bike as you want. Price point is great and it handles like a dream.

Hi Steve,
I want do 1-2 touring trips per year plus the rallies. The touring trips would be 1-2 weeks depending upon how much time I can get away. Also, I want to do the 3 Flags ride next year. I am 6'2" and 195 lbs and have a longer reach in my upper body. I am definitely on a budget as most of the money I put down will be based on trade-in or private sale. I want a good dealer network with parts availability. Convenience is important for me:).
With those requirements, any recommendations?
Thanks
Ross

Ross,There are a plethora of choices for touring bikes. The best bike depends on how much touring and how long of trips you want to take. Other considerations are seat height, bike weight, parts and service costs, dealer networks, etc. What do you really see yourself doing with the bike and what kind of $ are you going to be spending need to be factored in too.I'm more than happy to make some suggestions if you figure out what you want out of the bike. I've had a few myself.Steve--Hi Gang,Had a great time in Montrose at the Triumph in the Rockies rally last week. Thanks to the Bacas, Erico, and everyone else for making this a great trip.Crazy question. I love my Bonneville but would love something bigger for touring. I use my bike for commuting to/from work for city riding. I am only interested in street riding. What bike do you recommend?I would have to get rid of my Bonneville to sell or trade-in for something larger.Any opinions/recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Ross
