Re: [emrat:8015] Engine Light

Glad that they found it for you and getting the valves back in adjustment - makes the bike run better.

I will be up there in Ft. Collins myself on Friday.

Jeff - you are the lucky winner! :)

I have my bike at the dealer for 12K service (plus new tires) -- and the problem was related to the oxygen sensor. Replacement part being ordered, hope to have the bike back soon.

Now for a different but related question - I've seen a number of posts from folks who have actually removed their O2 sensors for better performance. Is this advisable? Not that I'm going to do it, just curious if others have...

Rin it by the dealer and they can scan the code to see what it is. Check engine could be low oil or possible oxygen sensor.

Unfortunately, from my experience, the number one reason lights come on is a defect in the sensors/light, not a real problem.  Check your oil level too. Which can be a reason they come on.  I assume you do not have tire pressure sensors, then it could be a soft tire.

My engine light turned on during my ride back to Denver this morning. I've never had the light turn on my Speedmaster, so just trying to figure out what might be going on.

I was already planning to take the bike in for its 12K service, but if anyone can explain under what circumstances this typically occurs, that would help me.

Thanks.
