Re: [emrat:3761] Help!

Thanks Dan,

The Sprint RS does have a speedometer pickup off the front wheel.  It's very likely that you lost the connection either at the wheel or further up the line.  I would locate the pickup on the front wheel and the cable coming from it (should be on the left side of the front wheel at the axel - the axel runs through the pickup, the pickup is pinched between the front fork/suspension leg and the wheel).  Take a look at the connection there at the wheel to make sure its intact, nothing pinched or frayed.  Then follow the line from the wheel up to its connection point.  This is usually the gauge itself, but I don't have my manual in front of me at the moment, so it could meet somewhere in the harness.  Verify that the end connection is secure, it may have come unplugged when you hit that bump.  If everything is intact, you will likely have to replace the Speedometer sensor.  The part is about $150.00 and it usually takes us about 45 minutes to an hour to replace, so about $100 in labor, roughly.  I hope this helps you to get a better idea and potentially get it fixed easily.  I'm out of the office today, but I'll be back in tomorrow if you have any more questions, or if you need more details about where to look.

Phil. Brandon has a 2004 Sprint RS.

It once belonged to Dave Warfield, but I won't go into the nefarious trick that Warfman engaged in, which is why the bike ended up in Brandon's possession and not in my deserving hands,

Hey guys. I noticed my speedo and odo weren't working this morning. Hit a pretty good bump on the way in.... Where do I start looking for loose wires??? As far as I can tell everything else works...
