Pete Homan at Bavarian Motorcycles West, or "Mr. personality" as I like to call him (you'll get the joke when you meet him), is a great tech. The only thing I miss from the dealership is a detailed printout of the work done. In other words, when I take the Beemer to Foothills for a major service, I get a two-page printout telling me every little thing that has been done. Pete gives you a receipt that says "24,000 mile service." I have a strong preference for the detailed printout, but Pete is also reliably about a third less expensive, and he does great work.
Performance Cycle is also pretty much within walking distance of Pete's place. I used to take my (now Dan's) Sprint RS there for tire changes. I'd drop off the bike, walk to Performance, walk back with a set of tires, and my total cost for buying, mounting, and balancing the tires was around $300. Greatest service scam in Denver, IMHO.

--Curtis: That's a good point. With 53k on it, it should have had some of the routine stuff done already. According to the seller it was maintained by an independent BMW shop in Fort Collins (Beemers and More, I think?) Maybe I should give them a call and see if they can tell me what was done with the bike.I also should probably have it "checked over" by a dealer. Since I've never had that done before, what's a reasonable price to have this done? And while Foothills is close to work and familiar to me, are there any other places I should consider? What about Bavarian Motorcycles West on South Delaware? Any dealings with them?Thanks!

Foothills made a handful of fixes to my GS under warranty that I never knew about until I had them print out the service history a couple years ago.

I believe the answer is yes too but Curtis is correct, to avoid Canbus
issues I would look for a direct battery connection device. That's what
I did on my BMW per advice I got from an MOA forum. Plus that keeps
your powerlet free for phones or other devices.
