E-Steve,
I always felt like my RS would have benefitted from a minor sprocket change, mostly to get moving along in first gear from a stop. After that it was just a matter of proper gear selection for the riding you're doing. I never changed the sprockets, mainly because I didn't want to run at higher rpm's when in top gear. Triumph could have done a better job of internal gearbox selection to begin with, i.e. lower 1st and higher 6th.
About those tire pressures... I'm pretty sure the manual stated 36 psi front and 42 psi rear, the same as my Tiger and just about every Triumph I've owned. I noticed when I lost even a few psi, the handling at city traffic speeds didn't feel right. I never experimented much with the tire pressures, keeping them close to the recommendations. 42 psi front does not sound correct, take a look at that manual again to be sure.

----Steven,I ran the tire pressure pre the owners manual. If I remember correctly it is 38 on the front and 42 on the rear.I did change the counter sprocket down one tooth. OEM is 19 / 43 and I was running 18 / 43. By dropping a tooth on the front is gave my Sprint a lot more umfh in the canyons.CPT BobFrom: Steve Farrow-reidSent: Tuesday, January 21, 2014 7:37 PMSubject: [emrat:3776] Sprint ST topics--Capt.BobWhat tire pressures did you run on your 04 Sprint ST?The owners manuel says 42 psi for both front and rear, which l personally feel is on the high side.Lastly, did you change the gearing (sprocket sizes) on yours.Asking because the differance in ratios between fith and sixth gears appear vastly differant.Sixth gear in the canyons makes the bike drive like a semi truck, and your look all over the switch pod for the the "Jake Break"!Thanks in advance.E-Steve
