RE: [emrat:3805] Appealing to the collective wisdom: Heated gear

Martin, are you sure it wasn't already handled by the dealer during routine maintenance? The 955 Triumphs had the same issue, and I think the dealers just swapped 'em out when they came in. Foothills made a handful of fixes to my GS under warranty that I never knew about until I had them print out the service history a couple years ago.

F bikes don't have the tank issue so I'm no help there.

Norman and Curtis:  Thanks for the input.  It's funny I just now looked up the adapters in a catalog and it mentions the CANBUS issues and says I should connect directly to the battery.  Guess that means I'm pulling the tank off this weekend!

Now, apparently some BMWs have issues with 'quick disconnects' to the fuel lines breaking.  Is there a better product I can replace them with?

I believe the answer is yes too but Curtis is correct, to avoid Canbus
issues I would look for a direct battery connection device. That's what
I did on my BMW per advice I got from an MOA forum. Plus that keeps
your powerlet free for phones or other devices.

questions?
I was going to post this on a message board but I figured there's almost ce=
rtainly enough collective wisdom in our club to answer my question.=C2=A0=
=20
=C2=A0
Back in "the day", there were only one or two companies making heated gear,=
Gerbing and Aerostich (I think)=C2=A0 I got my Gerbing heated liner a few =
years ago.=C2=A0=20
=C2=A0
Now there are a bunch of companies making the stuff.=C2=A0 My question is:=
=C2=A0 Do they all pretty much use the same connectors and adapters?=C2=A0 =
Reason I ask is that I need a cable to connect my Euro power adapter (I gue=
ss also called a "Powerlet?") to my heated liner, and I can see some on Bik=
eBandit that seem like they will work but they are not a Gerbing product.=
=C2=A0 I'm reluctant to order unless I know it will work (I have a $10 gift=
card from Bike Bandit which is why that is my first choice.)=C2=A0 Looks l=
ike the brands sold at Bike Bandit are Symtec, Gears, Alpinestars and Tourm=
aster.=C2=A0=20
=C2=A0
Thanks in advance for any advice.
=C2=A0
(Also, if anybody out there has an extra adapter or controller they want to=
sell, shoot me an email, maybe we can work a deal?)
