Re: [emrat:5281] Sturgis Ride: The "Dances with Wolve's Route

Hey Dan,

I just had lunch with my Brit mechanic friend who has an old friend from New Zealand visiting. His name is Nelson and he said he was going to Sturgis to check it out. I mentioned your ride and I wanted to ask if it works around his schedule if perhaps you would allow a Kiwi to join in on your ride to Sturgis. Let me know...Thanks

Bob

Just in case the Montrose rally has fueled your thirst for more riding (or if you did not get to go to Montrose), here's the Sturgis ride update.

Participants:

·         Vince Lane

·         Dan Pilcher

·         Ghislain "Jesse" Sabre (not confirmed yet but I had sent him emails last Thursday)

We will meet in Fort Morgan at the gas station at the SE quadrant of the intersection of I-76 and CO 52 at 9 am, Thursday, July 31st.

From Fort Morgan, we will go north on CO 52, jog on to CO 71 and then north into Nebraska (with a stop in Kimball on I-80) and on to Scottsbluff for lunch.

Next, we would ride north on NE 71 and turn east on US 20 to connect with US 385 west of Chadron NE.

We would then go north on US 385 but turn on to SD 79 south of Hot Springs and run on up to Rapid City so we can get to Sturgis hopefully by late afternoon and set up camp at the Creekside Campground by late afternoon.  (And avoid repeating last year's fiasco of setting up camp in the dark when we were tired and hungry--and I had a new tent that I had never pitched!)

We will be joined there by Norm Wright on July 31st and Jay Clawson and his son, Corey, on August 1st.

Dan
