Career Development Expo to be held Sept. 21 Employer job fair, resume assistance and job search resources offered DENVER, CO — Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012 — In celebration of National Workforce Development Month, the Denver Workforce Centers are offering a Career Development Expo, September 21, 2012, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the Wellington E. Webb Municipal Office Building, 201 W. Colfax Ave. The expo will feature a job fair with approximately 10 hiring employers, plus information and resources to assist individuals with their job search. Businesses include FedEx, CBT Johnson’s Moving & Storage, LCS Financial Services, Aircraft Services International Group, Wendy’s and representatives from Stapleton area hotels. Staff from the City’s four workforce centers will offer resume and cover letter assistance, as well as one-on-one interview skill tips. “Connecting individuals with employment opportunities, job search tools and training is our focus every day through the Denver Workforce Centers,” said Ledy Garcia-Eckstein, acting director of Workforce Development for the Denver Office of Economic Development. “Through this expo we’re looking forward to showcasing what the public workforce system is all about to the broader community.” The expo will also offer employment programs for veterans and entrepreneurial resources on starting up a business from the Rocky Mountain MicroFinance Institute and the Denver Metro Small Business Development Center. Other organizations providing information at the expo include the Community College of Denver, AARP, GLBT Community Center, Dress for Success and the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment. Attendees are required to be registered users of ConnectingColorado.com, the state’s workforce development web portal. Individuals are encouraged to register on ConnectingColorado.com prior to the event. Computer access will be available on site to register individuals as well. The Denver Office of Economic Development (OED) is dedicated to advancing economic prosperity for the City of Denver, its businesses, neighborhoods and residents.
