VISTA Position
Aurora@Home (Aurora's plan to address homelessness) in partnership with Metro Denver Homeless Initiative (MDHI) is recruiting applicants for a VISTA position (similar to AmeriCorps). This VISTA member would work primarily on capacity building issues around homelessness in Aurora by working with Aurora@Home and extend beyond A@H to other homeless issues and programs in the City of Aurora (e.g., Point-in-Time, cold weather shelter, etc.). This VISTA member will also work collaboratively with other VISTA members on MDHI regional efforts. The focus does not involve direct service. Rather the focus is on capacity building. VISTA members receive a stipend of approximately $1,000. This is not a salaried position. To my knowledge this position does not impact a household's mainstream benefits such as TANF, Food Stamps, etc. It is a full time position (40 hours per week).
The goal is to start first round interviews by August 27 and 28 and second round interviews August 31 and Sept 1.
Attached please find the job announcement. Would you be so kind to post it in the appropriate place for your agency? Also, would you give some serious thought if you have a someone you are serving who is mature and motivated and for whom this position might be a great opportunity to enter the work world or re-enter it? If you or your staff know of any such person, would you encourage them to apply and to do so as quickly as possible. They must follow the application process outlined in the job announcement.
