The Park People would greatly appreciate your help in spreading the word about Free & Low-cost Shade Trees for Yards. Below this announcement is a list of things you & your group can do to get more trees in your neighborhood.

Tree pick-up: October 6
These trees are strictly for your yard (on private property),
NOT along the street in the public right-of-way.
(For street-side trees, consider our spring street tree program.)
Trees are only $25 each
and Free to residents in our target neighborhoods
(Trees this size usually sell for $100+)
Denver Digs Trees has provided more than 44,000 affordable and free trees to Denver residents over the past 21 years. We offer a variety of beautiful trees that make our communities healthier, more livable places.
Target neighborhoods: Athmar Park, Baker, Barnum, Barnum West, Chaffee Park, Clayton, Cole, Elyria-Swansea, Five Points, Globeville, Green Valley Ranch, Jefferson Park, Lincoln Park, Montbello, Northeast Park Hill, Ruby Hill, Skyland, Sun Valley, Valverde, Villa Park, West Colfax, Westwood, and Whittier. While trees for all other neighborhoods cost $25, “Treeships” are available for those with financial hardship.
There are a variety of ways your group can spread the word about this opportunity to your neighbors:
Email the Announcement
Email the announcement above to members of your group. Just copy, paste, and send! The PDF of the tree application is attached or residents can visit the link on the announcement to apply online.
Canvass the Neighborhood – Cross the Digital Divide and reach out to families who aren’t on your email list
Organize a homegrown canvassing effort to take flyers and applications around to your neighbors, inviting them to apply for trees. Canvass between now and the end of August to ensure that residents can get their applications in by Sept 1. The Park People can provide canvassing materials and a canvassing guide. This is a wonderful opportunity to build a sense of community and purpose among neighbors and work toward tangible improvements to your neighborhood and the local and global environment.
Encourage your Neighborhood Newspaper to Run a Story or Advertisement
We’re happy to provide a press release. Reporters may contact The Park People for any additional information.
Drop Off Tree Applications to Neighborhood Hot Spots
You know your neighborhood’s hot spots and gathering places better than we do. Leave small stacks of tree applications at coffee shops, gardening stores, and other locations where folks might see and take them. Contact us for printed applications.
Host a Denver Digs Representative to Speak to your Group
A Denver Digs staff member or volunteer can come to your group’s meeting to present briefly on the benefits of trees in our neighborhoods and what we have to offer for the spring distribution. (To conserve our organization’s precious resources, we prefer to speak to groups of 10 or more.)
