Curtis, I just can’t resist replying to your questions! J And Norm will probably reply also.
I think Norm posted some time ago that he’s going to search out a new campsite. Perhaps someone in his group can email you directions once they have set up camp. Or they can leave a map for you at the main building for you to pick up when you check in.
Creekside is actually a well-groomed pasture—but no cow patties—and a lot of cottonwood trees. Thus, there are no dedicated camp sites. You just find a spot under the trees and pitch your tents and open the cold beers. It would only take you about ten minutes to ride around the campground so it’s pretty easy to find people
Actually, quite a few Harley riders don’t ride the posted speed limit. They seem to set governor on 80 mph up I-25 and then US 85 (Torrington, Lusk, Newcastle). Knowing this, the WY State Patrol usually has plenty of troopers out in force on the roads leading to the Black Hills and Sturgis. Fortunately, riders alert each other to the presence of the troopers and sheriff’s deputies.
Given the high lonesome roads of Wyoming, there are plenty of chances to pass slower-moving packs of riders.
Some people ride on up I-25 and cut over on US 20 to Lusk. But I prefer US 85 to more time on I-25. There are various ways you can explore the roads of the Black Hills en route to Sturgis, but doing so will probably put you into the campground much later in the day and you can arrive pretty worn out.
I’m more concerned about what you will do when you see your first woman in leather bikini on the back of a Harley. Especially if the guy is wearing a leather vest that says Hells Angels, Mongols, Bandidos, Outlaws, Sons of Silence, etc. By the way, body paint passes for clothing in Sturgis. And it’s not men who wear body paint.

Got my campground reservations for the place everyone recommended. However, I'm not going up until Saturday. Is there any way someone can save me some space and let me know where in the campground to go? Also, what route is everyone taking? It looks like the highway goes straight there, but I don't want to get stuck behind a bunch of speed-limit-observing Harley riders!
