Denver to extend season two extra weeks at five outdoor pools

 

DENVER, CO – Denver Parks and Recreation announced today that it will add two extra weeks to the summer outdoor swimming pool season at Congress, Mestizo, Barnum, Berkeley, and Eisenhower pools. The season, which was originally scheduled to end on August 12, will now extend to August 26 at those five pools.

 

“With how hot and dry this summer has been, and continues to be, we are really excited we can keep these five outdoor pools open for two extra weeks,” said Lauri Dannemiller, Manager of Denver Parks and Recreation. “This is something we know our residents will be able to take advantage of as the summer winds down.”

 

The five pools that will remain open are spread out to make sure there is an equitable opportunity for residents to take advantage of the extended schedule. The extension to August 26 will keep the five pools open through the final week that most Denver Public School students are still on summer vacation. The majority of DPS schools start on August 27. Also extended is the special weekend admission program on Saturdays and Sundays where Denver youth under the age of 18 enter for free and Denver adults pay just $1.

 

Included in the extended schedule, Denver Parks and Recreation will make sure to appropriately staff all pools to provide a safe environment at each pool to handle the maximum capacity allowed by safety code. On weekends, as on weekdays, Denver Parks and Recreation will not allow more people into the pools or pool areas than what is allowed by the established safety regulations.
