City names high-growth firms in celebration of Denver StartUp Week

“Denver Gazelles” recognized for high growth, future potential

DENVER, CO — Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012 — In celebration of Denver StartUp Week, the Denver Office of Economic Development (OED) today recognizes five high-growth companies as “Denver Gazelles.” Each firm has been named for its success and growth potential. The companies are comCables, Ibotta, Inspirato, Ping Identity and TrackVia.

“We commend these companies for their successful track record at demonstrating innovation while raising significant investment capital in today’s business environment,” said Paul Washington, OED executive director. “Named after the swift four-legged gazelle, these are fast-moving companies with unlimited futures. Each is poised to continue to do great things in the years ahead, and we are proud to help them grow and prosper in the Mile High City.”

The recognition of high-growth companies is one of many business retention initiatives identified in the OED’s JumpStart 2012 strategic plan. The OED named the Denver Gazelles based on referrals and internal research among its business development staff and the venture capital/financial community. The companies have collectively raised more than $99 million in capital over the past two years.

comCables is a manufacturer of end-to-end copper and fiber optic structured cabling. With 45 current employees, comCables projects hiring more than 15 additional staff this year, and more than 100 by 2017.

Founded in October 2011, Ibotta has created a mobile technology that replaces couponing with a series of fun and game-like interactions that give brands a new way to engage with consumers before they go shopping.  Ibotta is working with eight of the world’s 10 largest consumer packaged goods companies.

Inspirato is a private, members-only destination club, created by the founders of Exclusive Resorts. Inspirato manages a growing portfolio of nearly $500 million of exceptional residences in the world's finest destinations. The club’s innovative business model – leasing rather than owning residences – has led to rapid growth since its January 2011 launch.

Ping Identity believes enterprises of all sizes should be free to engage in a world of cloud and mobile computing without compromising security and convenience. Ping Identity powers 800 of the world’s most demanding businesses with a simple start menu for the cloud. The company delights customers with convenient single sign on to all of their cloud applications, while providing IT with visibility and control.

TrackVia makes cloud-based software that companies can use to build customized online spreadsheet and business-tracking tools. Founded in 2007, the firm plans to double its staff, revenue and customer base over the next year.

The Denver Office of Economic Development (OED) is dedicated to advancing economic prosperity for the City of Denver, its businesses, neighborhoods and residents. Working with a wide variety of community partners, OED operates to create a local environment that stimulates balanced growth through job creation, business assistance, housing options, neighborhood redevelopment and the development of a skilled workforce.
