Subject: Town Hall Suicide Prevention Event-Thurs 11/15/12 from 5-6:30pm at Wheat Ridge Rec Center
Did you know…
In Colorado, 76.8% of individuals who died by suicide in 2010 were men.
Working age men are dying by suicide at an alarming rate. While working aged men (25-54 years old) account for the largest number of suicide deaths, these men are also the least likely to receive any kind of support. They don’t talk about it with their friends. They don’t share with their family. The don’t often seek treatment.
Jefferson Center is proud to team with agencies across the state to bring Man Therapy to our community to raise awareness about men and suicide and help put a stop to suicide deaths. It is our hope to engage our community members in the Town Hall in order to help reduce the rates of suicide.
The website www.mantherapy.org is designed to use humor to keep men engaged and encourage them getting help. Man Therapy keeps them laughing while showing working age men that talking about their problems and getting help is masculine.
Please join us to learn more about this important issue and how you can help.
