LeafDrop 2012: Rake Up & Recycle

 

Recycle your leaves at one of Denver Recycles’ LeafDrop sites.  Saturday and Sunday drop sites will be open during the first three weekends of November and the weekday drop sites are open in now through Dec. 3rd.  LeafDrop is an environmentally responsible way to dispose of leaves. By participating in the LeafDrop program you can make less trash, keep our streets clean and help to make compost.  Rake Up & Recycle! Denver LeafDrop 2012.

 

 

Please only bring leaves to specified drop sites during specified dates and times.  Dropping off leaves during other times is considered illegal dumping.

 

WEEKDAY drop sites are open October 1 through December 3 from 8 AM to 2 PM.  Sites will be closed on holidays, and leaves must be in tied or secured bags. Paper bags are preferred. 

 

• Cherry Creek Transfer Station - 7301 E. Jewell Ave.  (Quebec St. & Cherry Creek Dr. South)
• Havana Nursery - 10450 Smith Rd.  (Just south of I-70 on Havana St.)

 

SATURDAY drop sites will be open November 3, 10 & 17 from 11 AM to 3 PM.

 

• Cherry Creek Transfer Station - 7301 E. Jewell Ave.  (Quebec St. & Cherry Creek Dr. South)
• Cranmer Park - 3rd Ave. & Clermont St.
• South High School - Louisiana Ave. & Franklin St.

 

SUNDAY drop sites will be open November 4, 11 & 18 from 11 AM to 3 PM.

Brown Bag Them & Go!  Save your plastic trash bags and time by bringing your leaves in paper yard debris bags.  Unlike plastic bags, brown paper bags can be composted with your leaves. Many hardware and retail stores have paper yard debris bags for sale.  Or even better, bring your leaves in reusable containers or tarps to the Saturday or Sunday drop sites only and we will empty and give them back to you.  Leaves in plastic trash bags are also acceptable and residents going to weekend drop sites are encouraged to leave them untied if possible. 

 

Remember:

• Denver residents only.
• Never sweep leaves into the street as this clogs storm sewers and street sweepers.
• Make sure leaves do not contain branches or other materials.
• Dropping off leaves at any other time is considered public dumping.
• Compost made from LeafDrop will be sold in May at the City’s Mulch Giveaway & Compost Sale.

 

We’ll compost pumpkins too, so bring your Halloween jack-o-lanterns to Denver LeafDrop!
