This reminds me of the first R100Rs.Did not like it when it first came out,but started to like it when BMW changed the paint color.See good potentenial for a cafe racer. Oh yea,TK,how is life progressing with your new bike? E-Steve On Saturday, October 19, 2013 9:20 AM, Todd Kennedy <todd.kennedy1110@yahoo.com> wrote:
Hey...go easy on all this negative BMW talk ("Bauhaus" - "Looking weird for no particular reason"). I assure you there is a reason (don't ask me what exactly but there must be or the German's wouldn't design them that way!)
Bikes really are similar to spouses aren't they? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder... I would bet that once that thing hits the showroom, you might see some BMW impulse buyers. That's how I ended up with the Thruxton and I'm not really an impulse buyer.
I like it. Not crazy about the megaphone exhausts or the upside down fork but otherwise it's a nice break from the usual "Bauhaus" design that BMW seems to have taken over the last decade or so (where "Bauhaus" is another way of saying "looking weird for no particular reason.") "Retro" seems to be the new trend (see the Guzzi V7 and the new Honda CB1100) and BMW made some very classic, iconic bikes in the past. Why not a modern toaster-tank, for example? Spoke wheels and fork gaiters, to complete the look. I think it could be very successful. Martin
