Re: [emrat:3553] Looking at a 2009 Bonneville tomorrow, could use some expert advice.

Manny,

Do you have a gripe about fuel injected Bonnevilles? Why? Other than a slight decrease in fuel tank capacity due to the pump in the tank, what's not to like? Especially since we have wild elevation swings here in Colorado. Just curious, as I will have a Bonnie model at some future point.

I also agree with Manny about the mileage question. Experiences vary, but I think that in the Bonneville world, they tend to collect miles slower than in some other bike genres. That's based just on my observations from watching the classifieds. I think it says more about the general ownership, than the ability of the bike to make high mileage marks.

Hey, maybe we should go all-in as a club, buy a "community" Bonneville, for passing around and modifying, and see what kind of mileage we can amass year after year. That would be an awesome club project. Then when the bike is completely worn to a frazzle, we can donate it to the "lonely biker's club for guys that can't afford a bike", or some poor kid in the slums of India. Yeah! Who's with me?! Let's do it!!!

What?     No, I haven't been drinkink.      I'm at work, on my lunchbreak.

B onnevilles aren't typically high mileage bikes. I would say in the life of the bike, that isn't high; but probably is higher than what you would find on most '09 Bonnevilles. Keep in your consideration the Foothills extra handling fee. Also that sadly, the 09 is fuel injected.

Tavis

Definately check the service records. The only problems are aware of are leaky valve cover gaskets and also get the rear break pads checked, because thrse tend to wear out rapidly, otherwise that 865 motor is very robust.

If time permits, do an internet search, because l think there is a forum on this bike.

Best of luck, let us know how ot turns out.
