We wanted to reach out to your agency to offer you all a free SNAP application assistance training opportunity that will complement the work that you currently do with your clients and I believe will really help you all to connect those who are not only struggling with hunger, but also to get them into other programs (cash and medical), which will be greatly beneficial as well.

This training will help you to determine which clients may be eligible for cash, food and medical benefits and teach you how to submit applications with clients at your offices for these programs as well as how to handle client questions relating to the public health assistance programs (food and medical). After training, we are available to provide additional support, whether it be in-person, via phone, email or live chat, regarding specific situations or questions that you may come across while working with clients around SNAP.

We have found that by partnering with agencies like yourselves that we are able to make a much bigger impact on hunger and that people are more comfortable applying for these programs with a familiar face, like yours. Thank you for partnering with us on this state-wide initiative, SNAP Outreach, to help end hunger in Colorado. It is very important that we get those who are qualified for these programs enrolled. In Colorado, only 48% of those eligible for SNAP are enrolled. SNAP is the federal food safety net. SNAP provides low-income households with the resources to meet basic nutritional needs. In 2011, SNAP enabled an average of 200,064 households and 453,103 persons to purchase nutritious food through regular channels of commerce (USDA).

Please pass on this information to any other agencies you may know who might be interested in registering for this training. As you know, there is no cost for the SNAP application assistance training, and it can be completed on-site at your location or through a group training session with multiple sites during a time that's convenient for a site and their team.
