[Altitude Multisport Club] Fwd: Research study

Hi everyone -

I cannot help but think of the scene from Monty Python's "The Meaning of Life" in which the father announces that for financial reasons he must sell all of the children for scientific experiments. . .  but here's an interesting opportunity for some club members to learn some things about their bodies and further the interest of science as it relates to diabetes.

I'll leave the details to the University of Colorado (see email and attachment below).  Participate at your own risk, if you're interested.

To science!

Altitude multisport,

Hello! I am an IM triathlete and associate professor at the University of Colorado. I'm looking for athletes to participate in a research study investigating how fat in muscle is related to diabetes risk.  I have a recruitment flyer that I would like to have emailed to your team. Would that be possible?

A bit of background: Storing fat in muscle is a well known adaptation to endurance training. In non-athletes, storing fat in muscle increases diabetes risk. However - not in athletes.  I am studying how athletes compared to other people metabolize fat that protects them from diabetes.

We aren't offering VO2max testing in this protocol - but we do a lot of comprehensive metabolic testing (% body fat, blood analysis, metabolic rate testing, dietary analysis) that may interest your team.  We also pay participants a small amount for their time.

Would it be possible to send the attached recruitment flyer to your team?

Please give me a call if you would like to chat,

Thanks,

Bryan
