[CPN] FW: WalkDenver - making Denver more pedestrian-friendly

Hi Five Points neighbors,

As many of you may know Five Points has been selected to be the 2013 location for the WalkDenver Better Block event.  This is a demonstration project in urban design.  The idea is to take a City Block or a couple, and for a weekend transform them into a great walkable place with thinks like street trees, flower pots, traffic reconfiguration, pop up stores and cafes, signage and activities.  It should be a great event for our neighborhood and will showcase the potential along Welton and in Sonny Lawson Park.  WalkDenver is participating in Colorado Gives Day as a fundraiser for the event.  Below is a link to the donation site if you'd like to help out financially.

Thanks,

John Hayden

Help us make Denver more
pedestrian-friendly

Check out our mention in the New York Times

People are pedestrians by design – our communities should be designed for pedestrians to foster healthy lifestyles and economic growth.

Why Walkability Matters?

  •  Health care costs attributed to a lack of physical activity are $76 billion annually (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).
  •  For every 10 minutes a person spends in a daily car commute, time spent in community activities falls by 10% (Sightline Institute).
  •  Carbon emissions from vehicles will be 41% above today's levels by 2030 if people don't drive less (Urban Land Institute).

On December 4th CO GIVES DAY please support our mission with a tax deductable donation.

Donations can be made on either one of these sites:
