Re: Sec 16 Thursday

From downtown. Take I-25 N to Hwy 36
Exit I-25 left onto Hwy 36 to Boulder and follow all the way into Boulder.
36 turns into 28th St. one into town. Continue North through town.
On the North side of town 28th will hook to the NW at this point begin looking for Violet Ave.
Make a left onto Violet and follow through the neighborhood to cross Broadway.
Violet will intersect 10th St. Make a Left on 10th which hooks to the West and becomes Locust.
Follow Locust to the edge of the open space. There will be parking along Locust and a small dirt lot at the West end of the road. If you park in the dirt lot, don't block the gate!

The LZ is the big groomed grassy field to your North.

From the LZ walk West to the groomed jogging trail and follow the trail South. After several hundred yards (well before the lake), take the marked spur trail to head off to the West and up the foothills. Follow the spur up a shallow but steady climb till it intersects a trail running North/South, well below the ridge, and go North along the intersecting trail.

Follow this N/S intersecting trail North right to the lower launch (yawn).... or, to access the 3/4 and upper launches look for a trail that peels off to the West and back up the slope. You should really just hike to the upper as you'll need every bit of the measly 600+' vertical to find something going up. This site is better this time of year after a frontal passage when Easterly winds are predicted along the foothills... but you may be surprised. It's a great site to take a few sledders to stay up on your launch and landing skills as well as test new gear.

Don't land in the scrubby fields if you can help it... Tis is prairie dog habitat and, aside from all the holes in the ground, the ranger frowns upon it.

Enjoy!

Things look promising for 16 this AM so I think I'm gonna make the hike.
