This is obviously not an EMRAT trip but there were some discussions Tuesday about a west coast trip around the BMWMOA National Rally in Salem, OR this year. The rally itself is July 18-21 at the county fairgrounds in Salem, OR. Jay and I have tentative plans to leave Saturday July 13, 2013 with a group from the Colorado BMW club going through Utah, Idaho, Washington state then drop down into Salem on Weds the 17th. If anyone is interested let Jay or me know. If there is enough EMRAT interest in going out, we might join you folks instead of the BMW group. There appears to be no problem with a few more joining the BMW group either. The BMW group, once finalized, will post a route, rally points and time frames and they tend to meet at lunch or at the evening destination and not necessarily travel in an organized column with all members because some ride faster, some take pictures, some eat longer etc. The CO BMW group will include both campers and motelers along the route to Salem. At this point, getting hotel rooms at the Salem rally may be problematic but camping is open so no problem with that. Jay and I will be staying in Oregon for the week after that (21-27) so you may want alternate plans for coming home.
-- I think Bob Tapper and Sean/Sarah are discussing going down the California coast after the BMW rally, I'll defer to them on posting their thoughts, routes and timing.
