Boulder Housing Partners Opens Lottery and Wait Lists

for Three Affordable Housing Programs

Boulder Housing Partners (BHP) is accepting applications for three affordable housing programs until  5 p.m. April 24, 2013.

Boulder Housing Partners provides assistance to nearly 2,000 households in the City of Boulder. Residents include area workers, seniors, families and people with disabilities. In-town affordable housing helps eliminate daily commutes and puts residents in touch with needed services.

Applications are being taken now for the following three programs, serving citizens with an average annual income of $12,775:

Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers: Program participants rent from a private landlord and pay approximately 30 to 40 percent of their income in monthly rent. BHP pays the remainder of the rent through federal subsidies. BHP currently manages more than 850 Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers in Boulder. BHP is holding the lottery for this program.

Section 8 Project Based Housing Program: Participants pay approximately 30 percent of their income in rent to BHP in one of 124 homes owned and operated by BHP. The remainder of the rent is paid by BHP through federal subsidies. Eligible parties may register to be on the wait list for this program.

Public Housing: Participants pay approximately 30 percent of their monthly income in rent to BHP in one of 337 homes owned and operated by BHP in Boulder. The remainder of the rent is paid by BHP through federal subsidies. Eligible parties may register to be on the wait list for this program.

To better accommodate the demand and reduce long lines, BHP is encouraging applicants to consider using the online registration option at www.boulderhousing.org. Applicants may also apply in person at the main office at 4800 Broadway.
