[emrat:4239] Chuck Ferrari Memorial ride updates....

Someone asked if there were any updates - at this time, no, but just to recap, I'll put out the basic info in case anyone didn't get it the first time:

Date of ride:  Saturday, March 15, 2014.

Starting Point:  Kum & Go, 127 Laura Way, Dacono, CO.  This is just East of I 25 at Exit 235.

Departure Time:  Kickstands up @ 9:30 am (or 0930 for Captain Bob, except I think he and Denise are in Daytona.)

Ending Point:  Maverick's Country Grille, 1409 Barlow Rd, Fort Morgan, CO.  This is just North of I-76 at exit 82.

Ride Distance:  Approx 105 miles.  Note, however, that the ride ends in Fort Morgan, 81 miles NE of Denver.  Essentially, I plan on eating lunch in Fort Morgan and then finding my own way back, though anyone is free to join me if they wish, this will not be part of the organized "ride."

Ride time:  Approx 3 1/2 hrs.  This should put us into Fort Morgan around 1pm.  We will stop at 3 sites of historical significance along the way, and I'll talk about them for approx 5 - 10 minutes.  Of course, I'd be happy to answer any questions, but I'd like to keep them to a minimum until we stop for lunch, so we can have more time to ride.

I have "pre-run" all of this ride, it is all  on pavement, although there are stretches of rural road that may have dirt or mud that was tracked onto there by agricultural vehicles, so be aware of that.

This ride will benefit the Colorado Humane Society, so if you wish, you can bring a donation in the form of cash or check (payable to the CO Humane Society) in whatever amount you wish to donate in memory of Chuck.  Note that donations are NOT mandatory, if you just want to ride, that's OK too.

My lovely wife Liz has graciously agreed to follow the group in her car, and she will be handling the donations.  You can either donate at the beginning or the end of the ride.
Weather:  Right now the forecast for Denver is mid- to low-50's and partly cloudy.  However, the forecast for Greeley is calling for showers.  I'll keep abreast of the weather situation and hope to be able to make a more firm call on Thursday.  While I know most of us are OK with riding in the rain, if it looks like it's going to be too cold or miserable we may have to reschedule for a different day.  Again, I'm going to try and make the call by Thursday so everyone has time to prepare.

At this point I'm not planning on taking a headcount.  If you're there, you're there.  If you think you're going to be late, you can email me at martinjmpr@yahoo.com, I will check my email before we take off in case we need to wait for anybody.  Otherwise, we'll roll as close to 9:30 as we can.

The total distance of 105 miles from start to finish means that if everyone fills up at the start point, nobody should need gas until after the ride ends.  For that reason, I would recommend that everybody top off at the Kum & Go.

For a ride this big and "organized", the lawyer in me also feels that it's neccessary to have everyone sign releases, so I'll have those available at the start of the ride as well.

I'll post this on the Facebook page as well so everyone has the info.

Please let me know if there are any questions!

Hope to see you all on Saturday!

Martin
